Shaheer Sheikh has been rumoured to be roped in for a lot of upcoming television shows, Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 being one of them. Though the actor never really clarified signing any of the shows yet, he has confirmed that he has been going through scripts of upcoming shows. One of those shows is also a TV adaptation of Mughal-e-Azam, which will be on Sony TV. There are rumours that Shaheer has been in talks with the Prithvi Vallabh writer, Anirudh Pathak, for the historic drama. He is apparently in talks with the channel to play the role of Salim in the period drama.

In conversation with Pinkvilla, Shaheer denied signing any new TV shows but also spoke about what role he would love to play. He said, "I recently saw a few scenes of Mughal-e-Azam again and Dilip Kumar sir has done such a beautiful job in it. I was like I wish something like this I could recreate or get an opportunity to play such a character. I did a mythological show and then contemporary... I haven't tried anything historical so maybe I would like to that." Exciting, isn't it? We would love to watch Shaheer play the role of Salim, if things work out, of course! A source told a leading daily that Shaheer has been approached to play Salim and that the actor has shown interest but will only decide anything once he is back in India. Considering how much the channel is keen on period dramas, we won't be surprised to see a TV adaptation of this legendary film. We are already looking forward to this and hoping these rumours are true.
