After impressing and entertaining us with numerous brilliant performances for over three months, Zee TV's singing-based reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs 2019 concluded on Sunday night (June 9) with a 14-year-old singer from Maharashtra, Sugandha Date, bagging the title of the winner. While many made their ways into our hearts, only one contestant rose to the top. Sugandha was competing against The five other contestants, who gave tough competition to Sugandha for the trophy were Mohammed Faiz, Pritam Acharya, Anushka Patra, Aastha Das, Aayush KC. When the winner was announced, Sugandha was in a statement to Bombay Times, "I hate those suspense-filled moments before the winner’s name is declared. I was so tense that I sobbed inconsolably when my name was announced. More than being happy, I felt immense relief."

Talking about her win, Sugandha said, "I’m glad that I lived up to the expectations of my parents — Amruta and Amol Date — and guru, Anand Sharma." Sugandha, who won Rs 5 lakh cash prize, wants to spend on her parents who believed in her throughout. She told the leading daily, "I want to take my parents for a world tour with the prize money."

She further added, "My parents and brother have made many sacrifices for me. My father was a GPO employee in Nagpur and we were leading a settled life there, but he took a transfer to Mumbai for my singing career. My brother, who is older to me, left his friends and favourite school behind, but not once did anyone make me feel as if their lives were disturbed. So, I can’t let those efforts go in vain."

Speaking about her only goal, Sugandha, who is a Std X student of Parle Tilak Vidayalaya, said, "I have to become a playback singer, so that is where my single-minded focus would be in the next few years," further adding, "I will pursue my graduation in management or Mass Media, but my career goal will never deviate from playback singing. My riyaz in classical music will also continue so that I can glide through all the genres without any problems."

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs 2019, aired on Zee TV, had a panel of experts including the esteemed judges - Richa Sharma, Amaal Malik and Shaan and Bollywood playback singers like Mika Singh, Kumar Sanu, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Babul Supriyo, who also graced the show with their presence and gave their blessings to the kids. Even the actors Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, were on the show to promote their upcoming film, Kabir Singh, had joined the kids on the finale episode.
