After impressing us with numerous brilliant performances for almost three months, the third season of the (Indian) singing reality TV show Rising Star 3 concluded on Saturday night (June 8) with a 12-year-old singer from Punjab, Aftab Singh, bagging the title of the winner. While many made their ways into our hearts, only one contestant rose to the top. Aftab, who was youngest among the four finalists, not only won the prestigious trophy but also took home a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. On winning the show, Aftab, in a statement to the news agency IANS, said, "I am on cloud nine. I didn't even expect to be one of the finalists. It's like a dream come true. This win means a lot to me." Talking about his dream, he, who is a big fan of superstar Salman Khan, said that he wants to sing for him one day. He said, "It will now motivate me to do more hard work so that I get a chance to work in films and sing for Salman Khan one day."
Also, giving his father the credit, Aftab, who learned music from his father Mahesh Singh, said he would like to dedicate the triumph to his father. He further added, "My father is my inspiration. He has struggled a lot in his life. I don't belong to a rich family. I have seen my father's hard work. He has done a lot to make me reach this platform. It's not my win ... It's his win."
Rising Star 3, aired on Colors, had a panel of experts including Shankar Mahadevan, Neeti Mohan and Diljit Dosanjh. Speaking of the finale, the other three finalists, who gave tough competition to Aftab Singh for the trophy, were Diwakar Sharma, Sanjay Satheesh and Abhishek Saraf. Among the three, Diwaker was declared the first runner-up, who took home Rs 5 Lakh as prize money.
