First, he got detained at the airport for a damaged passport and had to keep appealing to the Indian Embassy at Moscow to get the issue sorted. Then it took the intervening of Sushma Swaraj, the External Affairs Minister, to get him cleared to fly to his destination. Karanvir was to travel to Moscow to grace the on-going Maccoffee Bollywood Film Festival there. However, his journey started on an uneventful note, with the actor almost being deported for carrying a damaged passport.
