Karan Johar's age-old gossipy chat show Koffee With Karan has been gaining attention from the fans on a constant basis. The show was always popular for garnering the TRPs on the basis of juicy revelations from the unabashed Bollywood celebs. However, this is for the first time that the host and judge invited personalities from the field of sports. Cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul graced the chat show and in no time, the episode made a mockery out of itself. Pandya's misogynist and sexist comments on women on the show drew major flak leading to serious repercussions. Should Karan Johar Be Booed For Hardik Pandya Fiasco On 'Koffee With Karan'?.

After severe criticism, Hardik issued an apology and his statement simply said, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect." Well, you can see how he clearly blamed the format of the show here.

But you might want to note that this is not the first time that the celebs appearing on the show have blamed the format. Earlier too, these stars pointed this thing out in some of the other ways. The quest for hamper always brought out the nasty side of the actors during the rapid fire round and these stars mentioned it too. In 2014, when Emraan Hashmi attended the show, he had termed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a 'plastic' during this round. However, later on, he clarified it saying, "I didn’t mean it. I’m a big fan of Aishwarya. It’s the format of the show. I cannot not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work." You see what just happened here?

Just during the promotions of Jagga Jasoos, it was Ranbir Kapoor's turn to hit the couch. But RK brutally trolled the host and his show saying, "You know Karan so well and he makes you so comfortable and you are chatting with him and you don't realise there are a billion people taking every word of yours seriously and that you are going to get screwed for it later. I am tired of Koffee with Karan. I was forced this season. I told Karan I don't want to come in and me and Anushka were actually going to protest and get the film industry together to stop this because it's not fair. He is making money out of us. We come and we get screwed through the year. It's not right." Koffee With Karan 6: Twitterati Declares Hardik Pandya as a Misogynist and We Second That.

These and more such instances make us wonder whether the format of the show needs a major revamp. Of course, there is a huge fan following of the format and it has also set a trend. There is no denying, that these episodes did entertain a big chunk of the audience. However, wouldn't it be nice if we get to see the raw and real side of the celebs without coaxing them with such not-so-cool questions? While the celebs conveniently shrug off the responsibility of being morally correct by blaming the show, it is high time that KWK gets an upgrade for its own good, don't you think so?
