Nia Nal, TV’s First Transgender Superhero Revealed in Supergirl’s First Look: See Nicole Maines Suit Up as Dreamer
The episode on January 27, titled “Blood Memory,” will throw light on Nia Nal's backstory, including how she gained her superpower.
We have a new superhero in the town, and it’s special. Why? Well, because it’s the very first of its kind. We are talking about television’s first-ever transgender superhero, Nia Nal aka Dreamer, the latest addition to the Supergirl team. The CW Television Network has released the brand-new poster for the mid-season premiere of the American television series’ fourth season. The actress who is making everyone rave so about Supergirl’s first look is 21-year-old Nicole Maines who is all suited up as Nia Nal. Dreamer is a distant relative to comic book character Nura Nal, aka DC Comics' Dream Girl.
The CW had announced the casting of TV’s first-ever trans superhero at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. And when on Friday, they unveiled the first look of Nicole Maines as CatCo reporter Nia Nal decked up in full costume as Dreamer, the internet lost its calm. If you’re wondering about her superpower, try pondering a little over her superhero name. Yes, Dreamer has the ability to dream the future! How cool is that?
Let’s talk a little bit about Dreamer’s costume, which to me (a die-hard Marvel fan) looks a little inspired from Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel’s teal suit. Nicole Maines as Dreamer is fully suited up in a grey and teal outfit that boasts of exciting designs. She is also wearing an eye mask. Cool, isn’t it? BTW if you’re wondering when you’ll get to see Nicole in action as Dreamer, it will not be before the February 17 episode, titled "Menagerie."
