Veteran television and film actor Mrinal Mukherjee, who is known for his roles in Byomkesh O Chiriakhana (2016), Ghar Jamai (2008) and Streer Maryada (2002), passed away on Tuesday (May 7, 2019) at the age of 74. The actor, who also lent his voice in several films as playback singer, breathed his last at a private hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, the actor was was suffering from a deadly cancer for a very long time. Also, the 74-year-old was recently diagnosed with jaundice and geriatric issues.
Despite ill health, Mukherjee, who is very passionate about his work, continued to work. However, the actor's health condition deteriorated on Monday (May 6) and passed away yesterday noon. Mukherjee's demise has left a void in the Tollywood entertainment industry. Many actors and filmmakers took to social media to offer their condolences.
On the professional front, the veteran actor, who made his debut as a child actor in 1955 with the film Dui Bon, was known for his acting chops and featured in many hit Bengali films including Golpo Holeo Sotti, Nayika Sangbad, Chuti, Shriman Prithviiraj, among others. The actor also went on to feature in a few Hindi films like Mausam, which was helmed by Gulzar.
