Actors Karan V Grover and Dipika Kakar Ibrahim returned to fiction TV after quite the break from their respective stunts Bahu Humari Rajnikant and Sasural Simar Ka, with Star Plus’ Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. The show’s crux is all about how two super successful people from polar opposite fields get romantically involved. Off lately, a clip from the serial has gone viral and it’s for two reasons- it is ridiculous, plain and simple and some haven’t understood it. In the show, while Karan’s character Rohit Sippy is a successful cardiologist and Dipika plays Sonakshi Rastogi, a superstar. While the former belongs to the world of practical thinking and science, the other’s world is a creation of delusion and magic.

Well, the makers of the show very smartly and clearly take a dig at serials that show tacky and cringe-worthy sequences (ala Sasural Simar Ka, Naagin franchise). While their motto is to showcase that ridiculous content is a huge part of Indian Television, their way of implementation has left many confused, with people even bashing the show for showcasing Sonakshi challenging the doctor that the power of her ‘sindoor’ goes way beyond the study of the human body.

While a section of viewers does watch these shows for the humour part of it, there is a section that strongly believes that it glorifies the ‘superstitious suhagan’ stereotype and belittles medical professionals. While showcasing the concept that faith in God can actually make miracles happen is one thing, this scene took the concept to yet another level, which we feel was very disagreeable.

And while comments under this video range from the recent lynching of doctors at a Kolkata hospital and the ensuing strike to slamming such ‘regressive thought-provoking’ content on Indian television to dragging Kabir Singh’s issue and even some asking for IMA (Indian Medical Association) to intervene and ban such scenes, we have only one in mind. While we already saw Karan’s character’s exasperation to the scene on-screen, we really itch to know how Dipika felt while enacting the sequence and delivering those cringe-worthy lines?
