Star Plus’ Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 has not ceased to make it to the news in the past few weeks. Starting with Hina Khan’s character Komolika’s exit from the show to Ek Deewaana Tha’s Namik Paul entering the show as Vikrant, a lot has been happening for the show and on the show as well. However, what came as a shocker to many was how Namik Paul picked Kawach: Mahashivratri over Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. EXCLUSIVE: Ram Kapoor Denies Being Approached For Kavach 2!
And while it is a no-brainer on why he did that, the actor recently confessed that he was very keen on doing Kasautii… until Kawach 2 came along.
Revealing the happenings at the time to Mid-Day, Namik said, “Here (Kawach 2), I was getting to play the lead. Plus, the show is replacing Naagin 3. I took 10 minutes to give the nod." Namik also went on to reveal that the makers assured him that this role would be very different from his previous roles, “I didn't want to be typecast. [So, I was skeptical about] playing a demon after essaying a ghost. But they assured me that it would be nothing like my previous roles." Opening up on Kasautii…, Namik revealed, “My character in Kasautii [Vikrant] had a great arc and the script sounded good. Who would say no to the flagship show of Balaji? I was excited to sign the contract.”
In fact, the report also read that Ekta Kapoor herself thought that Namik would be perfect for the role of Angad in Kawach: Mahashivratri. The producer was quoted as saying, “When I saw his tape, he looked brooding and interesting. I thought he would be perfect for Kawach 2 because there was a certain personality to him."
Kawach: Mahashivratri marks Diya Aur Baati Hum's leading lady Deepika Singh’s return to television after her long hiatus. The show also stars Vin Rana in the lead role alongside Deepika and Namik and will go on air from May 25 in the 8-9 PM slot that Naagin 3 will vacate. The Naagin 3 finale episode has been shifted to the 7-8 PM slot for its finale week.
