June 7, was a day of relief for singer and actor Karan Oberoi and his family as he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in the rape case filed against him. In short summary, a 34 year-old woman, claiming to be an astrologer, filed a rape and extortion case against the actor. Actor Pooja Bedi, who has been one of the voices behind the ‘#MenToo’ movement and has voiced her support in favour of Karan on multiple occasions, revealed to Bombay Times that a public rally will be held on June 15 from 11am to 1pm, at Azad Maidan where supporters of the ‘#MenToo’ movement will be gathering. Pooja also revealed to the daily that Karan and his group Band of Boys will be performing at the rally. “We are going to take bytes of people, and capture the sentiment about fake cases that is gripping the nation. We want to start changing things and are taking concrete measures to ensure that this initiative gains momentum,” revealed Pooja. Karan Oberoi Granted Bail in the Rape Case

Pooja also went on to reveal that she had conversed with Karan and that he was overwhelmed with all the love and support that he has been receiving. She also revealed, “He (Karan) is now determined to take this forward and make sure that this does not happen to any other man. He said that there were 600 cases similar to his in just Taloja jail (Navi Mumbai).”

Karan had earlier applied for bail, which was rejected by the Sessions Court. The actor then appealed in the High Court. However, things took a dramatic turn on May 25 when the complainant registered another FIR against 4 unidentified men. However, after the attackers were arrested, it came to light that the attack was planned by the woman (complainant) and her lawyer helped execute the attack. The complainant's lawyer has been arrested.
