However, now Times of India's latest report on the case suggested that the woman had "directed" the May 25 attack on herself. Yes, you read that right! The allegations made by her regarding the attack are false. Talking about it, a leading criminal law counsel Amit Desai, in a statement to the leading daily, said, "If there is any truth of the falsity of the second FIR by the woman, it is time stern action is initiated."
He further added, "If it is found allegations of assault are false, it will have a bearing on the credibility of the allegations made earlier by the woman against the actor." Speaking of the false complaint by the woman, Karan Oberoi’s lawyer Dinesh Tiwari told the daily, "His (Khan’s) arrest will undoubtedly help in bail proceedings filed by Karan in Bombay high court after the sessions court rejected his plea last month," further adding, "We would mention in court that if a person is capable of cooking up such a plot as alleged, her first initial accusations against the actor can also be the product of such fertile imagination."
Speaking further, Tiwari said, "This will also go a long way in helping to prove that the rape case she filed was concocted and utterly false, as had been submitted at great length before the sessions court."
However, arguing on the woman's behalf to oppose the actor’s bail plea, one of the woman’s two lawyers in Dindoshi court (the other being Khan), Sheetal Pandya said, "Since the past few days I have not been in touch with her. She has not approached me either for appearing as her lawyer in his (Oberoi’s) bail plea hearing in Bombay high court."
She further told the daily, "But soon after the sessions court’s bail rejection order, we had discussed that she needs to engage a senior counsel for any appeal that Oberoi may file in HC for bail."
