Actor Karan Oberoi, who was arrested on May 5 after a 34-year-old tantrik filed rape and extortion charges, was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on June 7, a month after spending time in custody. A free man now, Karan has already begun fighting his case. The actor’s lawyer wrote the Oshiwara Police a letter, details of which have been published in the Bombay Times. The letter demands immediate investigations into the attack that the complainant staged on herself on May 25. The letter also read that Karan has kept “options open to prosecute you (police) for having committed the offense of shielding the accused” if the investigation is not conducted properly. Karan Oberoi Rape Case Shock Twist: Alleged Victim's Lawyer Confesses She Plotted the Attack on Herself

Perplexed at the lax attitude of the police, the letter also mentioned Karan’s disappointment in the delayed investigations. On May 25, the complainant lodged another FIR alleging she was attacked and threatened to take the case back. However, after her attackers were caught, it came to light that this was a staged attack by the complainant and her lawyer. The letter also demanded why the complainant was not questioned after this came to light. Karan Oberoi Rape Case: Actor-Singer’s Father Admitted Due To Ill-Health!

“Despite clear cut directions of the high court to take legal action against the woman for filing a false case’, the police made an extraordinary delay of three days in seizing her mobile phones”, the letter mentioned.

The letter also highlighted other points where the police have not yet recorded the complainant’s statement and that “no thorough investigation is being carried out so as to not only expose the first informant but also to collect all possible evidence against her for having indulged criminal conspiracy for filing false FIR,” the letter was quoted. Karan Oberoi Rape Case: The Singer-Actor and Band of Boys To Perform At #MenToo Rally on June 15!

Karan’s lawyer, Dinesh Tiwari also mentioned that her (complainant’s) phones were not seized in time (she surrendered her phones 3 days after the High Court order), requested the police to “collect evidence so as to bring on record the meeting place of the accused where conspiracy was supposed to have been hatched”.

Troubled times did not cease for Karan despite his bail, as his father was recently rushed to the Army Hospital in Colaba, after taking ill. Karan’s close friend Pooja Bedi also revealed that Karan and his singing troupe ‘A Band of Boys’ would be performing at a ‘#MenToo’ rally that is likely to take place at Azad Maidan on June 15.
