Karan Oberoi Accused of Rape; Actor Sent to Judicial Custody for 14 Days
The actor has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by Andheri Court in connection with an alleged rape case against him.
Television actor Karan Oberoi, who has been arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman in suburban Oshiwara on Monday (May 6), had been sent to police custody till May 9 by a Mumbai court. Also, an FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi, after the woman complained to police. Now the latest update is that the actor has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by Andheri Court in connection with the alleged rape case against him. On Thursday, a news agency ANI took to the micro-blogging site to share the news. ANI's tweet read, "Mumbai: TV actor Karan Oberoi sent to 14-day judicial custody by Andheri Court in connection with an alleged rape case against him. He was arrested on May 6." For the uninitiated, the actor was arrested on charges of rape and blackmail by a fashion designer-and-healer. According to the victim, the actor was in a relationship with her since 2016 and he established physical relation with her on the pretext of marriage.
On the professional front, the accused actor has worked in several TV shows including, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Inside Edge, among others. The actor has also appeared in advertising campaigns of FBB, Royal Enfield Riding Apparel, Aldo, Jack & Jones and Lamborghini. Stay tuned for more updates.
