'Kapil (Sharma) will always remain a premium talent for us,' Sony TV's Business Head Danish Khan opens up
The channel will welcome Kapil Sharma with open arms whenever he is ready for it!
Kapil Sharma has completely disappeared after the whole abusive tweets controversy. In fact, the channel even pulled down his comeback show, Family Time With Kapil Sharma after it failed to garner the expected TRPs and Kapil was unable to shoot any episodes. The channel has, however, always maintained that they have Kapil's back whenever he recovers and is ready to come back. Sony TV is currently gearing up for two big reality shows that will go on air from June onward, Dus Ka Dum 3 with Salman Khan and Zindagi Ke Crossroads with Ram Kapoor. Business Head and EVP of Sony TV, Danish Khan, spills beans on Kapil Sharma and the upcoming shows on the channel.
Speaking to Indian Express on whether the Kapil controversy affected his equation with the comedian at all, he said, "Not at all. It’s really unfortunate that after a couple of episodes his health deteriorated and he had to take a break. Kapil will always remain a premium talent for Sony and we completely believe in Kapil and his competence. The day he is physically and mentally fit and ready to drive a show, Sony will be more than happy to associate with him."
He added, "I think it’s all part of business and every artist works really hard and goes through a lot of pain and to see them breaking down is sad. It’s only human to give the person space and to recover. Whatever happened, we have taken it on our stride and moved ahead." Well, we totally agree with him on that.
The channel will also bring back Comedy Circus with Archana Puran Singh and Sohail Khan after four years. Talking about it, he said, "Comedy is a very important offering for us and the show has been exceptionally successful. It was the place where it all happened. Be it Kapil Sharma, Krushna Abhishek or Sudesh Lahiri, they’ve all emerged from the same stage. It’s a big format and brand for us and we are really excited to have it back."
