The next instalment for India's Best Dramebaaz goes on air today with Omung Kumar, Sonali Bendre and Vivek Oberoi as the panel of judges. Like the last seasons, the theme remains the same, and the show takes up the 9 pm slot. The episode for the day takes us through the auditions which is a mix of laughter, fun and tears.

The contestants on board are diverse and are from all over the country. He shows targets the family audience. Some kids are having all the fun they can while we also manage to see some serious acting too. Vivek is a rage with the kids, and Sonali is the calm of the show.

Omung means business which we would actually expect from the kind of director he is. We see kids like Chitrali, Arjun, Kavya and Siddhi who make us wonder if we are really watching a kids acting show, as they bring tears in the eyes of the judges with the level of performance.

They set the benchmark real high for the other to match. We hope to see more of them soon enough and know for sure they are going far in the show for real. Some kids win over by pure cuteness and innocence like Lucky who claimed that his sister is such a mischief while there is also another little munchkin who does not let Vivek talk.

Shantanu Maheshwari takes over as the anchor and is an instant hit with the kids as he readily becomes a horse or a sorcerer for them.

Thumbs Up:

  • As we mentioned the talent on-board this time is real serious one. We see some great performances at the auditions and wonder what it would transform into during the actual performances. The shows like this are a success or not depending on the kind of contestants, the show does hold the potential from what we saw today in that arena.
  • Sonali Bendre is the one who binds the show together as it looks as she gives the show a flow with her charm and poise, she makes the kids feel comfortable and also involves the parents whenever she can. Vivek Oberoi and Omung Kumar too appear to be in their element as one adds fun and the other means business.

Thumbs Down:

  • Was it because it was the audition episode or was it beacuse it was the first episode, somehow the flow of the show seemed too strained and dragged. Usually shows like these have quick auditions round up shown with just some of the interesting ones aired here though, that was not the case.
  • Shantanu Maheshwari finds a very little screen space as of now and we would have loved to see more of him. considering the kind of rapport he seemed to share with the kids.

Verdict

The show does have have an amazing panel and some even more amazing talent, so what we are looking for would be an interesting hour full of power packed performances once they begin.
