Game of Thrones Season 8: George RR Martin Wanted Another Five Seasons, Is Sad and Disappointed About the Show's Ending
Yes, even George RR Martin is disappointed about Game of Thrones ending with season 8.
Game of Thrones fans are busy counting the days for the finale episode of their favourite series. It's barely a day away and to be honest, the excitement within us has calmed down. Thanks to unexpected twists and turns, the season so far has been a huge disappointment and we don't really have any high expectations about how it will end. While the GoT cast itself is sad about the show's new season, seems like the original writer, George RR Martin too isn't pleased to see how it will end. In his recent conversation with express.co.uk, Martin was very clear about how some creative differences between studio, network and creators has led to such a disappointing season. Martin was quoted as saying, "The series has been... not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons. You know, it’s complex. I’m a little sad, actually. I wish we had a few more seasons. It can also be... traumatic. Because sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don’t match, and you get the famous creative differences thing — that leads to a lot of conflicts. You get totally extraneous things like the studio or the network weighing in, and they have some particular thing that has nothing to do with the story, but relates to ‘Well this character has a very high Q Rating so let’s give him a lot more stuff to do." He clearly looked disappointed with how the makers have turned his story to be a 'people pleaser'. Though he believed the show needed some more seasons, it's sad that the makers decided to end it at eighth. "I don't think it should be the final season. But here we are. It seems to me we just started last week. Has it been longer than that? The time has passed by in a blur. But it's exciting. I know it's an end, but it's not much of an end for me," Martin had told The Hollywood Reporter. Season 8 is definitely the worst rated season in the history of this show and what's worse? Makers don't seem to have any qualms about it. Recently a petition was signed by the show's fans where they demanded that the current season should be re-shot.
