Game Of Thrones Season 8's third episode has been one of the most talked about episodes till now. The longest episode in the series consisted of one of the longest battle scenes in movies/TV and while we were sitting at the edge of the seat for the entire episode. The Red Woman aka the Red Priestess aka Melisandre (Carice van Houten) played an important part in the third episode. After she left in Season 7, it remained unclear as to when she will return and how she will be key to the story ahead. Well, here it is, in 'Battle of Winterfell', Melisandre played an important role in helping to keep the Army of the dead at bay. At first, she channels her powers provided by the Lord the Light to give the Dothraki army with flaming swords as they are the first ones to charge towards the Night King's army. Game of Thrones 8 Episode 3 Complete Recap: From Major Deaths to Arya Stark's Heroic Act, Everything That Happened in the Battle of Winterfell (SPOILER ALERT).

She later lights up the trenches that protect the castle gates by praying to the Lord of the light and even succeeds.  But her true contribution to the episode remains in her exchange with Arya Stark. After she runs into Arya (Maisie Williams) who is fleeing from the White Walkers, Melisandre reminds her of the prophecy which she had told Arya when they met in Season 3. In their last meeting, Melisandre promises Arya that they will meet again. She also says,  "Brown eyes, green eyes, blue eyes. Eyes you will shut forever." Back in Season 3, these words don't mean much to Arya but in this episode, she takes the cue and we later see her in the last scene as she thrashes the Night King (the one with the blue eyes).Game of Thrones Episode 8 Episode 4 Promo: After Night King, Winterfell and Daenerys Targaryen Prepares to Battle Cersei Lannister.

Melisandre and Arya's throwback moment:

After the war has ended, we see Melisandre leaving the castle gates and on her way out, she throws her choker necklace that maintains her youth. After throwing it, we see Melisandre's age catching up with her and she then dies as an old woman on the field. If you recall, Melisandre left Westeros in season 7, episode 3 with the promise that she would return one more time, to die and that came true too.

Melisandre's final scene:

Melisandre had always talked about her purpose being tied to the Great War. That purpose being achieved, she finally dies in peace. Who would have expected all the prophecies of Melisandre would come true? What did you think of the third episode? Tell us in the comments below.
