Game Of Thrones wrapped its final season last month and faced some polarising views for the final few episodes. The final season of the series was considered to be a huge let down by fans across the globe thanks to its poor plotline and now, there's a new reason why fans of the show are outraged. This time, it is because of HBO's choice of episode nominations for Emmys 2019. According to TV Guide, HBO has submitted Miguel Sapochnik for season 8’s The Long Night, David Nutter for The Last of the Starks, and DB Weiss and David Benioff for The Iron Throne, in the Best Directing category. Benioff and Weiss' script for the finale is also the only submission in the Best Writing category. Game Of Thrones: Furious Fans Petition for HBO to Remake Season 8 With New Writers.

This has left fans shocked and angered considering these were the episodes that were heavily criticised. Instead, the makers have ignored acclaimed episodes such as Winterfell and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Going by the ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes, the episodes chosen by HBO have been the worst rated ones.

The show will also be competing for top honours such as Best Drama Series, Main Title Design, Casting, Editing, Stunt Coordination, Music, and Sound Mixing categories. Yet, fans are thoroughly unhappy with HBO's writing and directing choices and took to social media to share their disappointment. Game of Thrones Season 8: George RR Martin Wanted Another Five Seasons, Is Sad and Disappointed About the Show's Ending

As for the Series award, until now only nine shows have won a series Emmy for their final season. Shows with finales that were garnered with praises have won such as Breaking Bad. Although it is going to be a tough one for Game Of Thrones, given how satisfying Veep's finale has been hailed by fans. Let's wait and watch what happens at Emmys 2019.
