Game of Thrones 8: If IMDB Is to Be Believed, These Popular Characters Are Making a Return for the Finale Episode!
The final episode will start streaming on Hotstar in India from 6.30 am on May 20.
With one more episode to go, Game of Thrones is finally coming to close. One of the most followed shows on Earth, if not the most, May 20 (when the episode airs in India) will decide if Game of Thrones goes out with a bang or just a poof! The eighth season is also the shortest in the whole series, with just six episodes, though the runtime of certain episodes has been the longest. There has been a general accusation that to accommodate this short season, the makers have swapped good storytelling (GoT's biggest strength till season four) for grand scale. Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6: These Pictures Are a Proof That Daenerys Targaryen’s Wrath Has Brought a Havoc of Coldness Across the King’s Landing.
The final season has quite a few plotlines to tell us. There is the icy-cold equation between Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The Night King and his undead army attack Winterfell and kill some of the heroes, before he is killed by Arta Stark (Maisie Williams). Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) learns the truth about himself, which not only bothers him but also Dany, who realises he is the true successor to the Iron Throne. Coupled with Missandei's (Nathalie Emmanuel) execution by Cersei (Lena Headey) and Rhaegal's death by Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek), Dany turns Mad Queen and destroys most of King's Landing, to the horror of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Jon.
We have seen the deaths of some major characters in the final season like Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey), Dolorous Edd (Ben Crompton), Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) and Melisandre (Carice van Houten) in the third episode. We also saw the deaths of Varys (Conleth Hill), Missandei, Rhaegal, Euron Greyjoy, Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Qyburn (Anton Lesser), The Mountain and the Hound (Rory McCann). Game of Thrones 8 Episode 5: From the Golden Company to Arya Stark, 7 Most Disappointing Things That Happened in ‘The Bells’ (SPOILER ALERT).
And there are some secondary characters, still alive, who haven't appeared at all, like Robin Arryn (Lino Facioli), Hot Pie (Ben Hawkey) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick), in the final season. While some other characters may have already bid us farewell and we are not even sure if they will return.
Or perhaps they will. We are sure that the main characters, who have survived both Night King and Dany's wrath are returning. Like Jon Snow, Tyrion, Daenerys, Sansa, Arya and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) are most definitely coming. And so are Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). Game of Thrones 8: How Daenerys Targaryen’s Dragons Represent Three Important Events for Her in the Final Season! (SPOILER ALERT).
Watch the teaser of the final episode of Game of Thrones:
If we have to believe the cast and crew section of IMDB page made for the final episode of the show, certain supporting characters we thought we won't see again are also making a return.
Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) and Gilly (Hannay Murray) are both coming back it seems, after bidding an emotional farewell to Jon in episode 4.
And so is everyone's favourite sword-for-hire, Bronn (Jerome Flynn), perhaps giving us one last snarky convo with Tyrion.
The same page also suggests that Gendry (Joe Dempsie) is also making a return, after his marriage proposal was rejected by Arya. Can he be lucky twice?
However, the IMDB page doesn't mention if the fan-favourite characters of Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) and Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) are returning. Which means if Tormund is not coming, does that mean Jon's direwolf Ghost is also not returning? Also no mention of Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), last seen in season 8 episode 1, sailing to Iron Islands after being rescued by her (now dead) brother Theon(Alfie Allen). The final episode will start streaming on Hotstar in India from 6.30 am on May 20.
