In this feature, we look at five such moments that fans have been expecting for some time that the show fulfilled finally! Game of Thrones 8 Episode 5: All the Major Deaths That Happened in the Bells Aka the Last War (SPOILER ALERT).
Varys Turning Against Daenerys and Getting Killed
This fan theory was hinted in the last episode itself, as Varys sees Daenerys showing signs of turning into her father. When he learns that Jon Snow is a Targaryen, he determines that he is the better choice to rule from the Iron Throne. And it is this 'betrayal' that costs Varys his life, as Daenerys gets him arrested and later killed by letting her Dragon roast him in fire.
Mad Queen
And just as Varys had feared, Daenerys did do what her father, Aegon Targaryen aka the Mad King, wanted to do (before Jaime killed him) - 'Burn Them All'! In her anger towards Cersei, Daenerys takes her Dragon to destroy King's Landing, even after the people ring the Surrender bells. So many innocent people get killed in Dany's wrath, making her the new villain of the show.
Drogon Destroying King's Landing
When Daenerys gets married to Khal Drogo in the first season, it was expected that he and his army of Dothraki would help her and her brother Viserion to take the North. Khal Drogo is not alive anymore, so it feels justified that the dragon named after him helps Daenerys in destroying King's Landing.
The CleganeBowl
From season one, fans have been expecting Sandor Clegane aka The Hound to take revenge against his evil elder brother, The Mountain. They even dubbed the contest as 'CleganeBowl'. With the show about to end, the makers finally gave in to fans' wishes and gave them CleganeBowl, that resulted in the deaths of both the brothers. But not with some pretty gruesome fighting.
Cersei Dying in Jaime's Arms
There were fan theories that Jaime Lannister would be the one to kill his sister/lover in the final season. And there were others that said that both would die together, embracing each other. The second camp won, as Cersei and Jaime did die hugging each other as the city fell down upon them.
