Mumbai, February 9, 2018: Following a successful season on EPIC – India’s only Hindi-language India-centric infotainment channel, Mahesh Bhatt’s Khwabon Ka Safar marks a comeback, albeit in the form of a book. The 13-episode series hosted by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is an exclusive glimpse into a slice of Bollywood history. Owing to its massive popularity among viewers, the series has been adapted into a book based on episodes from the show. Published by Rupa Publications, the book is available on e-commerce platforms - Amazon and Flipkart, and across all leading bookstores.
Taking readers on an eclectic journey across Bollywood’s landmark film studios, iconic stars, and cinematic masterpieces, the book chronicles compelling stories of Bollywood’s top thirteen studios—from Prabhat Film Company (1929) to Filmayala (1958) with which the studio era ended. The book interlaces various interesting anecdotes from the famed erstwhile studios and their rich Bollywood legacies.
Commenting on the release of the book, Aditya Pittie, Managing Director, EPIC said “Bollywood is replete with a very rich history and the evolution of Indian cinema is incomplete without a chapter dedicated to leading studios and their many milestones. We’ve received a lot of encouraging feedback on the series and we believe the stories about our cinematic heritage need to be told further to a larger audience, hence the decision to adapt the series into a book for avid film aficionados.”
Through the series and now the book, industry veteran and intelligent conversationalist, Mahesh Bhatt brings out some gems from his vast knowledge about the history of the studios and the legacy of Indian cinema.
Speaking about the launch of the book, Mahesh Bhatt said, “Khwabon Ka Safar is a project that gave me an insight into our rich cinema history and I am certain that it will create the same awe among readers. EPIC's adaptation of the series into a book is applause worthy and commendable. The book promises to be a true revelation of the journey of filmmaking and is a tribute to the pioneers of filmmaking in India.”
Producer and Director of Khawabon Ka Safar, Samar Khan also added, "Having been a journalist earlier in my career and then graduating to becoming a film maker, cinema has been my first love, and directing the show was like a master class in cinema studies. EPIC has done a great service to the preservation of the history of cinema by commissioning the show and then publishing the book."
In the past, EPIC has also released books based on other popular television series such as Devlok with Devdutt Patnaik and Adrishya - a compilation of thrilling tales of mysterious Indian spies.
Khwabon Ka Safar is priced at Rs 295 and is available across e-commerce platforms – Amazon and Flipkart and at all leading bookstores.
