Ek Thi Rani Ek tha Raavan: Manul Chudasma Sacked, Makers Roped In Srishti Jain to Play the Lead Role

Television actress Manul Chudasma, who was seen playing the lead role in Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan opposite Ram Yashvardhan, has been ousted from the show overnight. Yes, you read that right! According to a report in Bombay Times, the show is gearing up for a major generation leap and the makers decided to replace the actress owing to a track change and a complete transformation of the lead female character. Talking to the daily, the producer Suzana Ghai said that she had no issues with the actress but she needed someone glamourous to justify the upcoming track. Ghai said, "We had no issues with the actress at all. The show is taking a big turn and we wanted someone, who looks sensuous, stylish and justifies the twist we are bringing in the show. The track requires Rani to outgrow her middle-class beginnings and take on a new avatar."

However, Manul, who is shocked over getting replaced on Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan, told the publication, "I am a Mumbai girl and have been brought up in a modern environment, so I wonder if being glamorous was the only reason for replacing me. Wearing stylish and short clothes is not alien to me. In fact, when I took on the role of Rani, they wanted me to play to a demure middle-class girl. They even told me to study the mannerisms of a girl like that as they felt I was bringing too much of Manul into the character. It was my debut show and I learned a lot. Having said that, I'd like to add that I am happy about the new person stepping in."

She further added, "The show must go on and I have no bitter experiences or issues with it. The makers may have felt that a new face was needed to take things further. But it is strange that the character of the heroine has undergone such a drastic turn - from a middle-class family girl to a glamourous one. [sic]"

After Manul's exit from the show, the makers have roped in Srishti Jain of Meri Durga fame to play the female lead post the leap. Confirming the same, Srishti told the daily, "Main Mayke Chali Jaungi just got over. I am happy to get a chance to be part of another show immediately. Besides, the concept of this show is different from what I have done before. Yes, the makers wanted a glamorous and stylish Rani to take over."

Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan premiered on January 21, 2019. The show replaced channel's hit show Kya Haal Mr Paanchal and therefore, viewers had huge expectations from it but the failed to match up to it. However, the actress received a warm response from the audience for her performance. Stay tuned!
