The highly anticipated conclusion to the Cobra Kai saga has arrived. The sixth and final season of the popular Netflix series is now streaming, though early reviews suggest it may not live up to the hype of previous instalments. A departure from past seasons, Cobra Kai VI, will be released in three parts, with the first five episodes available as of July 18. For those unfamiliar, Cobra Kai is a beloved continuation of the classic Karate Kid franchise, following the lives of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) decades after their iconic rivalry. Empire Online: "The cast rise above the material. Even with a sub-par script, Cobra Kai still makes for comfort TV. It’s always good to hang out with this obscenely likeable gang, even though it’s time for some of them to take flight (Zabka is long overdue a meaty movie career and Xolo Maridueña, so consistently pleasing as Miguel, vibrates with charisma). But they can only do so much playing lesser, regressive versions of themselves, going through the motions one more time."

Games Radar: "Cobra Kai season 6, part 1 does have its moments elsewhere. There are crumbs of quality, not least maintaining the successful blend of cheese and charm that transformed Cobra Kai from YouTube Red underdog to Netflix champion. The scenes where the likes of Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) and Demetri (Gianni Decenzo) get to hang out gives, oddly enough, a breezy sense of nostalgia for Cobra Kai’s early years away from the mundane charge towards the Sekai Taikai." Cobra Kai Season 6 Date Announcement Teaser: Netflix Announces 3-Part Finale of Popular Karate Kid Spinoff Series (Watch Video).

Paste Magazine: "Unfortunately, the show remains committed to telling more of Kreese’s backstory, which it began delving into in the show’s third season. Of all the arcs, Kreese’s seems the most redundant. The show has already entered into evidence why Kreese is such a bad guy. And as the series spins its wheels on its villain, this season also see Daniel delve more into Mr. Miyagi’s (the late Pat Morita) past. While it’s lovely how the show continues to honor Morita, this latest plot twist does seem a little like Cobra Kai grasping for storylines."

Screen Rant: "This ultimately leads to a real lack of tension and drama in part 1, which doesn't let the story and characters shine. Season 6 part 1 clearly sets the wheels in motion for the remaining two parts, but it's a shame that this segment fails to resonate as well as previous seasons. The actors performed well, and the story makes sense, but it doesn't need five episodes to make the few points it works toward."
