Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have grabbed all the headlines from the past few days as their series Citadel: Honey Bunny was released on Prime Video on November 7. Directed by Raj & DK, the spy thriller series has received positive response from both fans and critics. However, Samantha Ruth Prabhu faced some challenges while filming for the series as she was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition Myositis. Samantha had almost backed out of the series due to the diagnosis. While interacting with THR India, Varun Dhawan shared that he was extremely sad about Samantha Ruth Prabhu's health condition while shooting for the series. Recalling an incident, Varun Dhawan said, "There were two instances where my heart literally sank. I was so worried because I remember one day when we were shooting, she just shut her eyes and said, 'It's just one of those days'. We kept shooting for about two hours, and after a short while, an oxygen tank is coming, and she is taking oxygen on the side." Praising Samantha's commitment towards work despite her health condition, Varun said, "She didn't have to do this, and could have taken the day off. She was literally taking Oxygen on the set and that is called commitment."

Recalling the second incident, Varun revealed that Samantha had to run behind him while shooting at a railway station in Serbia. He said, "So I have to run past the camera, and she is still in the frame, and she just collapsed. I caught her, and I went to Raj and said, 'Pack up,' and asked me to calm down. They were like, 'Calm down. You go and stand over there. Don't worry, she will be fine.' Varun shared that he just didn't understand what to do at that point. Revealing that just looking at Samantha gave him so much "power" and "positivity", Varun Dhawan said, "I felt like my problems are nothing, just look at this girl. On the work front, Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Kalees' Baby John, which also features Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff. The movie is a Hindi remake of Atlee's 2016 Tamil film Theri, which  features Thalapathy Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson in the lead roles.
