Ananya Panday makes her web series debut with Call Me Bae, the latest offering from Karan Johar's OTT division, Dharmatic Entertainment. The show is created by Ishita Moitra and is directed by Colin D'Cunha. Call Me Bae follows Bella Chowdhary, known as Bae, a wealthy social influencer with a luxury lifestyle. The eight-episode series tracks her fall from riches to rags after her disinterested billionaire husband throws her out upon discovering her infidelity. Bae moves from South Delhi to Mumbai, where she starts working as an intern at a news channel, building new friendships and finding a fresh romance with an upright journalist at the same channel. ‘Call Me Bae’ Season 1 Review: Ananya Panday Shines in This Glossy Guilty Pleasure That Plays It Too Safe and Shallow!

Call Me Bae also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. And since this is a Karan Johar production, expect a few guest stars to make cameos throughout the series.

In this spoiler-ish feature, we highlight five notable cameos by popular celebrities in Call Me Bae, who either play themselves or take on significant supporting roles.

Orry

Orry in Call Me Bae

Orhan Awatramani, aka Orry, is a popular influencer, often seen at parties being pally with numerous Bollywood star kids. He appears as himself in the third episode. After Bae’s drunken roasting of SS (Vir Das) goes viral online, she garners widespread attention and gets enough fans. One such admirer is Orry, who appears in just one scene where he is surrounded by paparazzi, but his focus is solely on Bae’s video. He asks about the new girl, making us wonder if he doesn’t keep tabs on South Delhi’s ultra-elite. Orry praises Bae for her fashion wisdom before signing off with a wink at the camera, saying, "Call me Bae." Is Orry the one responsible for the show’s title?

Karishma Tanna

Kaishma Tanna in Call Me Bae

Karishma Tanna makes her debut in the same episode but has a much more prominent role. When Bae joins the news channel, SS is hosting an episode of his show, where his guest is Naina Khanna, played by Tanna. He shocks her by revealing personal information, leaving her bewildered as to how he obtained it (we later learn that the perverted CEO of the telecom company Izumi, Mukul Sawla, has been data-mining his customers and providing that info to SS). Particularly sensitive is the revelation of her secret pregnancy. Tanna reappears in the sixth episode when Tammarrah (Niharika Lyra Dutt) and Saira (Muskkaan Jaferi) seek her out at a silent retreat, mistakenly believing her to be the mysterious ‘Anamika’. Though she isn’t Anamika, Naina gets her happy ending when her boyfriend (guest star Taher Shabbir), and the father of her unborn child, proposes to her. Ananya Panday’s Rumoured Boyfriend Walker Blanco’s Excited Reaction to ‘Call Me Bae’ Release Goes Viral.

Urvashi Rautela

As Bae and her friends search for the real ‘Anamika’—an actress and victim of sexual harassment by Mukul Sawla (Sahil Shroff)—they zero in on a few possible candidates. One is the haughty Diva Kapoor, played by Urvashi Rautela. Bae stalks Diva in various disguises, from paparazzo to restaurant employee, trying to get her to confess if she is ‘Anamika’. Instead, Bae’s antics prompt Diva’s boyfriend to propose, and Diva accepts.

Faye D'Souza

Faye D'Souza in Call Me Bae

The former Mirror Now anchor and current independent journalist, known for her sharp political commentary, makes a cameo as herself. D'Souza is seen in a party scene where she first trolls SS for his shallow, eyeball-grabbing journalism. Later, when Bae fangirls over her, Faye tells her that real journalism exists outside of TV studios (a meta reference to D'Souza's own career shift), and that TV anchors are not journalists but actors. Touche!

Sayani Gupta

Sayani Gupta in Call Me Bae

The most significant cameo comes from Sayani Gupta. The Four More Shots Please actress plays Madhulika Sahay, the real ‘Anamika’ who sent Bae the anonymous video accusing Mukul Sawla of sexual harassment. Mukul had been blackmailing her over a porn film she had done early in her struggling career, threatening to leak it if she didn’t comply with his demands. Encouraged by Bae, who includes her in her 'behen-code', Madhulika confesses her secret to her fiancé, who is far more supportive than she expected. She later goes live on Instagram to accuse Mukul Sawla of sexual harassment, sparking a #MeToo campaign against him. When Bae exposes both Mukul and SS on live television, Madhulika is shown rejoicing at the outcome.
