In conversation with Deepak Chaurasia, Shorey reminisced about a pivotal moment in his life when he was embroiled in the 'biggest scandal' with a female actor. He recounted receiving distressing news about his mother's health during the shoot of Lakshya in Ladakh. He said, "During the same time (after his mother's death), I also encountered the biggest scandal of my life with another actress. As I was unable to cope, my brother asked me to come to the US with him for a while. I pursued a six-month acting course in the US and borrowed money from my brother. After returning from the US, I started shooting for The Great Indian Comedy Show in 2005."‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’: Ranvir Shorey Openly Flouts Rules, Smokes Inside the House; Joins the League of These Errant Housemates.

He continued, "At that time, two of my long-shelved films were greenlit for release and hit theatres back-to-back within a week, and my work was loved by audiences. After those films, I finally felt my life was steady as an actor and that I had arrived."
For the unaware, Ranvir's confession sheds light on a past romance with Pooja Bhatt in the early 2000s, which reportedly ended badly. Pooja and Ranvir's love story began as a close friendship that blossomed into cohabitation. Allegations of physical abuse and excessive drinking marred their relationship, with Pooja accusing Ranvir and him vehemently denying them. He later married Konkona Sen Sharma in 2010 (son Haroon in 2011), but their marriage dissolved in 2015.
