It's not easy to talk about this, especially on national television. So, kudos to Arti Singh for breaking the silence and the stigma around depression.

Arti Singh talks about her struggle with depression on Bigg Boss 13

It takes a great deal of bravery to talk about depression, but it's important to do that to fade the stigma that there is around mental health in India. Deepika Padukone inspired a huge set of people when she not only talked about her battle with clinical depression and how she came out of it, but also established a centre for mental health to help people going through the same. Soon, other celebrities like Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma braved it and spoke about their struggle with the ailment. Now, it's TV actress and Bigg Boss 13 contestant Arti Singh, who has opened about the time when she was depressed.

On last night's episode of Bigg Boss 13, while talking to her fellow contestants Arti revealed that she was suffering from depression. The conversation started with Arti telling them that despite doing a lot of TV shows and getting rave reviews about her work, she didn't earn fame in the industry. After her TV show, Waaris went off-air, Arti revealed that she did not get any work for almost two years. This is the time when her brother and comedian Krushna Abhishek stood by her. She also talked about getting a good marriage proposal. She liked the man too but his family did not reciprocate after learning about her depression. Bigg Boss 13: Koena Mitra Talks About Her Abusive Turkish Ex-Boyfriend As She Reveals Some Shocking Details.

One day she finally realised that her mother, who was suffering from cancer while she had conceived Arti, gave up her life (despite the doctors telling her to terminate the pregnancy) to bring Arti into this world. That was when she decided to come out of it and start a new chapter in her life. Well, as we said earlier it's not easy to talk about this, especially on national television. So, kudos to Arti for breaking the silence and the stigma around depression.
