Emraan Hashmi is all set to foray into the web world with Shah Rukh Khan's Bard of Blood on Netflix. The web series is based on Bilal Siddiqi's book by the same name and it's a spy thriller where Hashmi will essay two distinct roles of a professor and a spy agent. Remember SRK's different videos from the past few days where the actor is seen having a conversation with Netflix personnel? Guess, it was a promotional strategy for the series' trailer that releases today.
When Mid-Day got in touch with the actor to understand his role in this thriller and what attracted him to this project, Emraan explained, "You will first spot Kabir Anand in Mumbai as a literature professor, teaching Shakespeare in college. He is then reluctantly pulled into the battlefield because of a certain situation." The story essentially revolves around a spy turned professor who is reluctantly pulled back into the battlefield and assigned a mission. He has to rescue four Indian Intelligence Wing (IIW) officers who have been captured in Balochistan and the task isn't as easy as it sounds. Speaking about venturing into the web world, Emraan said, "I've always believed that in movies, because of the very nature of the business, there are a few stereotypes that one has to abide by. That is not the case here. One can try out nice and experimental ideas with a platform like this. I probably consume more than 80 to 90 per cent of my media through Netflix." The trailer of this series starring Sobhita Dhulipala, Kirti Kulhari and Vineet Kumar Singh will release today (Aug 22, 2019) and the excitement for the same is at its peak.
