The best of British TV of 2018 was celebrated at the most prestigious Bafta Television Awards. The 2019 BAFTA TV Awards took place at London’s Festival Hall on Sunday, May 12. With 14 nominations, Killing Eve was dominating this year with the hit thriller series' leading ladies Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh both up competing in the Best Leading Actress category. While Jodie Comer and the series both won awards in the Best Actress and Best Drama series awards, Benedict Cumberbatch took home the Best actor award for his role in Patrick Melrose.
A Very English Scandal, based on the Jeremy Thorpe scandal, won three BAFTAs: Costume Design, Director (Fiction) for Stephen Frears and Editing (Fiction). BAFTA TV Awards 2019 Nominations List: Hugh Grant, Benedict Cumberbatch Compete for Best Actor
