Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has been going on for over 5 years now. What started off as a sweet love story that also made Raman and Ishita better parents has now finally reached a stage where they become grandparents. From chasing goons to getting married to each other several times, YHM has done everything that falls under the cliched daily soap bracket. But the show has also managed to bring to light topics that are an important debate in the society. Be it raising teenagers, addressing the birds and bees or sexual harassment, Ekta Kapoor managed to talk about these issues through certain tracks in the show.

And it is quite big for a daily soap to be able to squeeze in a track that highlights important issues in the society. Well, no matter what you think of her daily soaps, Ekta has always made it a point to include such brilliant tracks in shows. It all started when Tulsi shot Ansh for domestically abusing his wife and when she pulled the plug because her mother-in-law, Savita, had asked her to. No, we are not supporting mercy killing or anything but it surely sparked a debate about it. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has also been one of those shows.

Here are 5 of my favourite tracks from the show so far.

The beginning of Raman-Ishita's life with Ruhi

Raman and Ishita might have married each other for the sake of Ruhi but their relationship evolved beyond that. Not just that, Ishita carved Raman into a responsible, loving father. But more than that, we loved what a sorted and loving parent Ishita is in the show. She even managed to win over Adi, who turned bitter and was living with Shagun.

Handling teenage kids

When a child turns a teenager is when parents worry the most. Are they dating, who are they dating, what friends are they hanging out with, and all sorts of worrisome questions bother parents. While Raman was the worrying kind, Ishita was the cool one who was trying to blend in. She made sure that her kids could trust her, she believed in giving them the freedom to choose but also knew when to stop them.

The Budapest track

Now this wasn't a track with a social message of sorts but it did keep you pretty hooked on to it. It was a pretty entertaining track, loved Divyanka Tripathi's makeover but it got all annoying because the writers dragged the whole evil Simmi plot. But Raman and Ishita's equation was what made this track so much better.

The birds and bees

This one is going to be one of my favourite scenes from the entire show. It was when Ishita was speaking to her niece about the good touch and the bad touch. She explained it beautifully, without being too weird about it. The particular scene even had the kid asking counter questions and Ishita explained it perfectly. Now that is definitely something that is going to help parents deal with their kids and make sure they are safe.

When Ishita urged Ruhi to face Nikhil

Remember when Ishita found out how scared Ruhi was to face Nikhil after he attempted to rape her? Ishita lost her cool when she found out that Simmi used that particular incident to turn even Ruhi against Ishita unwillingly. Ishita not only supported Ruhi and calmed her down when she was panicking but she also encouraged her to face him and slap him for what he did. If only every parent would teach their kids to fight such unfortunate incidents and people instead of shaming them!

A lot of you might argue that Ishita shooting Adi was also one of the best tracks but well, I really liked Adi. I felt the situation and the track could have been handled differently rather than getting him killed. But that's just my opinion. What's your favourite track from the show?
