After the success of Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif are reuniting with director Vijay Krishna Acharya, for the upcoming period-adventure saga, Thugs of Hindostan. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. The first glimpses at the movie were released over the last 7 days. The first full-fledged trailer of Thugs of Hindostan will be releasing today. We will be bringing you live updates from the trailer launch of the film with all the stars present. Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan Coming Together for a Film

The two stalwarts have been around in the industry for the longest time. While Amitabh has shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in movies like K3G, KANK and Mohabattein, and with Salman Khan in Baaghbaan, God Tussi Great Ho, he was yet to be seen with Aamir Khan. Interestingly, Amitabh did act as a narrator for Aamir Khan's Oscar-nominated film, Lagaan.

Source Material

The film is based on 1839  novel, titled Confession of a Thug, by Philip Meadows Taylor. The book talks about a cult, called Thuggee,  in India which killed people for money. Katrina and Aamir Were Not the First Choices

The buzz about the movie started sometime in early 2016. Back then the movie was only known as Thugs. The names that were initially associated with the movie were Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan. But later, both the actors opted out of the movie. Hrithik chose to do Kaabil, while Deepika decided to dedicate her entire time to Padmaavat. Soon, Katrina and Aamir came on board, instead.

5th Most Expensive Movie

Thugs of Hindostan currently stands as the fifth most expensive movie made in India, tieing with Tiger Zinda Hai. Produced by Yash Raj Film, the movie is made on a budget of Rs 210 crore. Also, it is the first Indian movie to be shot in Malta and is also the most expensive outdoor shoot for an Indian film.

Aamir Khan’s Second Diwali Release

We all know how superstars have their fixed festivals to release movies. Salman has Eid and Aamir has Christmas. But, with Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir is coming out on Diwali (as the main lead) for the second time. His first Diwali release was Raja Hindustani (1996). Though to be noted, Secret Superstar also released on Diwali 2017, but Aamir only had a supporting role in it.
