The Oscars 2019 honoured the late comic book writer and publisher of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee during their In Memoriam segment. The In Memoriam is the Academy Awards' annual segment which pays a tribute to the members of the entertainment industry across the globe who passed away over the year.
During the video that was screened amid the awards ceremony, a picture of Lee was also shown as part of the video montage. Along with his picture was a text with his background which said comic book writer and an executive producer of Marvel Comics. Additionally, Lee's cameo clip from the 2006 X-Men film, The Last Stand, was also added to the In Memoriam video. Stan Lee passed away in November 2018 at the age of 95.

Lee has contributed tremendously to the entertainment industry from the comic books he wrote. As a comic book writer and editor, Lee co-created some of the most iconic superheroes for Marvel including the Avengers, Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther and Iron, to name a few. Considering how he played such an integral role at Marvel Comics, Lee managed to secure the executive producer credits for every Marvel-based films.
In fact, Lee even starred in most of the Marvel films in a cameo role. Additionally, Stan Lee will posthumously make appearances in the upcoming Marvel films, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame which is set to release in the next two months. At the Oscars this year, Marvel's Black Panther managed to create history by becoming the first superhero film to snag the Best Picture nomination! In fact, the film won about three trophies at the Oscars too.
