Taylor Swift is currently all over the internet for different reasons everywhere. But the topic remains her new music video You Need to Calm Down. people are loving and enjoying the songs ever since the audio dropped. But many people don’t have the same thoughts on the music video of the song. Taylor was heavily criticised for the theme she chose for the music video.
People criticised Taylor for the stereotype portrayed in the music video. While some also got mad at Taylor saying she’s using the LGBTQ inclusivity in the music video for her own benefits. Because it’s pride month, some are thanking Taylor for her support and some are criticising her for using their community for views.
Tweets Against You Need to Calm Down
Taylor Swift attaching herself to the LGBT community and pretty much comparing the criticism she's received to homophobia really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's good that she's such an outspoken ally, but the way she handles it leaves me conflicted.

yeah I might be cynical but that Taylor Swift video left me cold. I try to think that it's purely intended but I can't help but think it's your classic 'let's crack out a rainbow for pride month' stuff but on a Taylor Swift level that means getting queer people to be set dressing

Taylor Swift is exploiting the #LGBTQ community and using us as a marketing tool just to push her crappy music.

@taylorswift13 new music video is misguided, failed attempt to support our community the result of which is elevating other disgusting stereotypes about class, etc and erases our struggle by equating it to her drama.
I’m finished. I’m through. This month isn’t yours.

The new Taylor Swift video...atrocious. I was unsure the past few days what side to take and now I’m def GTFO. The fact she really depicted anti-LGBT protestors as hicks? Girl, many are very privileged people in high places in society. This issue is too important for caricatures.

Did she really need the lazy classist stereotype? Last time I checked, there were plenty of pretty polished people spewing intolerance too. https://t.co/3ncKCCmtXa

So @taylorswift13 new song/video is calming down and not throwing shade yet she stereotypes the protesters...guess calming down only applies if you agree with her views. #disappointed

It began with people of LGBTQ present in the video, as any regular video. But the portrayal of gays in their stereotypical attire with rainbows everywhere is what ticked people off. The guys walking around with extra outfits and acting like divas was upsetting to the audience. Many famous members of LGBTQ like Ellen DeGeneres, Ciara, Adam Lambert, Hannah Hart and many others were seen in the video. What is The Full Form of LGBTQ?
Many also commented on the anti-LGBTQ squad in the video. A gang of LGBTQ protestors show up and start protesting to stop the wedding of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita’s fake wedding. They again looked like the stereotypical, triggered, illiterate and uptight people who think homosexuality a sin. However, people are glad Taylor Swift is getting more vocal about political and social issues. Let’s give Taylor the benefit of doubt and appreciate the efforts she put for pride month.
