A part of the couple's bungalow caught fire after the main junction box installed outside the passage blew up. Speaking about the incident, she said, "Bhakhtyar and I were sleeping in our room when our househelp called me from the children's room, inquiring about the power cut." However, what followed next was unexpected and shocking. Kolkata: Century-Old Wari Athletic Club Reduced to Ashes After Fire Breaks Out Near Maidan Area.
She further narrated the story by saying, "I asked Bhakhtyar to look into it and within a few minutes of him stepping out, I heard him scream. He is not the one to panic easily. So I rushed out and was shocked to see fire in the passage. There were huge flames and smoke reaching inside the house. Fortunately, our neighbour helped us defuse it by using blankets and kitchen napkins. Bhakhtyar was a real-life hero; he managed to bring the fire down after working relentlessly for 45 minutes. Thankfully the fire brigade and police also came in time."
Tannaz further mentioned how this incident was a wake-up call for her and she advised everyone to install fire extinguishers. Since their residence had no power supply, the couple sent their kids and dog to her mother-in-law's place which was close by.
