Born on June 6, 1929 Sunil Dutt is one of the most prominent and influential actors of Indian cinema. Dutt married one of the famous actresses of his generation, Nargis. Sanjay Dutt, one of Bollywood's prominent figures of the contemporary generation is his son, while politician Namrata Dutt is his daughter. Dutt went on to act in a number of Bollywood films, the most remarkable one is Mother India which was released in 1957. Dutt played Nargis's son in the film.

His popular movies such as Waqt (1965), Yaadein (1964), Gumrah (1963), Khandaan (1965) and Ek Phool Char Kante (1960) are marked as the must watch in the movie buff's list. Dutt was awarded the Padma Shri award in 1968 He also served as a member of Parliament. Sunil Dutt died in the year 2005 due to an acute myocardial infarction.
