Since Saroj Khan made controversial statement on the burning issue of casting couch in Bollywood, the stars are sharing their opinion on the same. The recent one to join the discussion is Veere Di Wedding actor Sumeet Vyas. The internet star is already very popular because of his hit web series Permanent Roommates and TVF Tripling. However, it was not an easy journey for him to grab the stardom, reveals the star who faced the casting couch incident. While Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Sonam Kapoor resisted talking on the subject, their co-star spills the beans on his early days in showbiz industry.
The 34-year-old actor told HT, “At the very beginning of my career, I had been at the receiving end of an indecent proposal. I was only 19 and naive. Of course, I turned the offer down, but I was genuinely depressed for a week after that. I felt like I was missing out on a career opportunity. But with time, I have realised that no one ever gives you a role if you’re not deserving of it. You are in a project because you will add value to it."
Sumeet’s revelation shows how the issue can largely affect the confidence of the budding artists while entering this big world of entertainment. While some of them openly agree that casting couch exists, and it needs to stop, others blatantly refuse to acknowledge the issue. We wonder when all the actors will team up and finally take the matter in their own hands to curb it. We are glad, Sumeet did his bit!
