Yatra Teaser: Mammootty Looks Dashing as Former Andhra CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy

Yatra is directed by Mahi V Raghav, who previously made Anando Brahma and Paathshala.

Yatra Teaser: Mammootty

Earlier this year, Dulquer Salmaan made his Telugu debut with Mahanati, playing a real-life personality, Gemini Ganesan, and won the hearts of the critics and public in the process. Now his illustrious father, the eternally handsome Malayalam superstar Mammootty, is all set to make his return to Telugu cinema playing former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy aka YSR (as he was popularly known as). Titled Yatra, the movie will be chronicling YSR's famous 1475 km padayatra across the state as a part of his election campaign, which he won with ease. YSR served as the CM for Andhra two times, before he passed away in a tragic helicopter accident in 2009.

Yatra is directed by Mahi V Raghav, who previously made Anando Brahma and Paathshala. The makers have revealed the first teaser of the movie, and it looks visually impressive. It has Mammootty as YSR leaving his chair in the house, as he talks about the purpose of his padayatra and walks towards the door, with his back towards the camera. Once he comes out of his fan, we see a proper glimpse of the actor, as he waves to his followers (unseen) in a manner how YSR used to.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Mammootty is doing a movie named Yatra, nor is he playing a real-life politician for the first time. In 1985, he has done a movie called Yathra, that was directed by Balu Mahendra and also starred Shobana. It was a huge hit then.

Mammootty had also played the late Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in his biopic in 1999, and had won his third National award for the Best Actor with the performance (even though the movie was in Marathi). Can Yatra give him his fourth National Award? Only time will tell!
