In the wake of the Hema Committee report, several big names from the Malayalam industry have come out for multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse. One of the latest additions to the list is actor-producer Baburaj Jacob. Recently, a junior artiste claimed that she was invited by him to his house in Aluva, promising a role in a film back in 2019. She said, "I was offered a role which has a presence throughout the movie. I went to him expecting that he would recommend me to get a better career in the industry. She continued, "He gave me a room. Later, he invited me for food. When I opened the door, he entered the room and locked it from inside. He started talking in a vulgar manner and later physically assaulted me." She also claimed that Baburaj kept sending her inappropriate messages on WhatsApp, but she never responded to them. Baburaj, who is the joint general secretary of the Kerala Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), has denied the allegations and said that he will be taking legal action against the junior artist.

Who Is Baburaj Jacob?

Baburaj Jacob, mononymously known as Baburaj is a popular actor, screenwriter, director and producer who works predominantly in the Malayalam industry. Alongside his stint in Mollywood, Baburaj has acted in Hindi and Tamil movies. Making his acting debut in 1994 with the film Beeshmacharyar directed by Cochin Haneefa, Baburaj went on to several films including Salt N' Pepper, Manushyamrugam, Ordinary, Mayamohini, Koodasha and Joji among others.

Baburaj made his directorial debut with the Malayalam film Black Dalia, starring Suresh Gopi in the lead role. He also produced 4 Malayalam movies and one Tamil movie. To talk about his stint in Bollywood, Baburaj played a villain in Priyadarshan's 2004 comedy film Hulchul, which starred Akshaye Khanna and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles.
