Kamal Haasan's spy action thriller, Vishwaroopam, had made headlines in 2013 when certain Muslim organisations objected to the film's depiction of the religion (before the movie came out). Now the sequel arrives five years later, with the same main cast with Kamal Haasan getting back to the director's chair. Our in-house critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran, is watching the Hindi version of Vishwaroop 2 right now and here's what he had to say about the first half -
"Vishwaroop 2 begins just after the events of the first film. Wisam, Nirupama, Ashmita and Jagannath leave for the UK where their convoy gets attacked again. They lose a man and find out that there is a mole in their team. Wisam, while haunted by his last experience with Al Qaeda, continues to dodge attacks to his life while trying to find out what Omar, the villain of the first movie, is up to.
We have a cautionary warning for you - watch Vishwaroop 2 only if you have seen the first film. Otherwise, you will find some of the proceedings confusing. But even then, it is difficult to follow the film at times thanks to the broken narrative. There are some action sequences which are engaging, but VFX feels terrible. But the movie has to be lauded for the research involved in the making. Vishwaroop 2 comes alive when there is spy work and surveillance involved. The film reached the interval-point when Wisam discovers and probably foils a major terrorist foil."
This is not the complete review, so do return here for the same.
