Vijay's Sarkar Plagiarism Controversy Ends, Film Set To Release On Nov 6 In 3,000 Screens Worldwide!

The plagiarism row surrounding Vijay's Deepavali release Sarkar has finally come to an end. As per reports, director AR Murugadoss has agreed to give special credits for the story to KV Rajendran (a scriptwriter and assistant director). A hearing was held at the Madras High Court where the film's release on November 6 was cleared after learning that both the parties decided to reach a settlement.

The initial claims as stated by KV Rajendran was that the premise of Vijay's Sarkar was taken from his script, Sengol. The same was registered with the South Indian Film Writers Association in 2007. An investigation took place headed by K Bhagyaraj following which a statement was released where the similarity between the two films was acknowledged.

As per the settlement, Murugadoss has agreeds to include a 30-second statement in the film's credits which will state that Rajendran had come up with a similar script 11 years ago, on which Sarkar is based. On the same, Rajendran has given an undertaking that he will not object to the release of Sarkar in any publication and language.

With the court clearing the release date, Entertainment Industry Tracker Ramesh Bala has stated that the film will be releasing in 3,000 screens worldwide in over 80 countries. His tweet states, "#Sarkar will release in 3,000 screens world-wide.. 80 countries.. Widest release for a Tamil movie.."

Sarkar also stars Keerthi Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Prem Kumar and Yogi Babu. The film's music has been composed by A R Rahman. This is Vijay and AR Murugadosss' third collaboration after Thuppakki (2012) and Kaththi (2014). The official teaser and music have been appreciated by the fans who are eagerly waiting for the release.
