Dhanush and director Vetri Maaran had joined hands (after Polladhavan and Aadukalam) for an ambitious gangster drama, Vada Chennai that sprawls through years. Taking inspiration from movies like Once Upon A Time in America, Gangs of Wasseypur and the Malayalam film Kammatipadam (which itself is inspired from Once Upon A Time in America), Vada Chennai is about the rise of the city of Chennai, told through gang wars. Dhanush, of course, played the main lead, while Vada Chennai also boasts of an ensemble cast. The movie also stars Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani, Kishore Kumar, Daniel Balaji, Pavan and Ameer.

The teaser of the film has received much appreciation when it was launched a few weeks back. Even Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, was in praise of the promo. Now we have a new teaser that acts as a character introduction for all the main players in the film, including the lead actors.

Vada Chennai is produced by Dhanush himself, under his banner Wunderbar Studios. Santhosh Narayanan of Kaala and Kabali fame has composed the score for the film. He had recently tweeted about when to expect the score for the film - "Have been receiving so many messages regarding #VadaChennai updates. We are in the verge of completing a very special album with a lot of fun and purposeful elements. We will update the audio release date soon. There is a pleasant addition by musician @dhanushkraja." (sic)

Vada Chennai will release on October 17, where it will clash with Vishal's Sanda Kozhi 2 and Jyothika's Katrin Mozhi.
