Tollywood Drug Case: Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannadh, Tharun and Others Get a Clean Chit from SIT, Two Years After the Investigation
The investigation started in 2017 when the Telangana government had formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate this high profile matter.
2017 wasn't a great year for the Tollywood film industry as many prominent names were embroiled in what they call a drug scandal. The Telangana government had formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate this high profile matter after they suspected some well-known names were involved in a substance abuse case. As per reports in India Glitz, names like Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannadh, Tharun, Charmme and others were questioned for hours to understand their involvement in this subject. However, two years after the investigation started, SIT has finally given a clean shit to some of the accused after no evidence was found against them. The team has so far filed four charge-sheets against different accused but surprisingly none of them belong to any Tollywood celebrities. An RTI report says, "At least 62 individuals associated either directly or indirectly with Tollywood were questioned for hours. Strands of hair, nails, etc of some of them were taken by the authorities for examination. Turns out that every one of them has been given a clean chit. Only those with whom drugs were found have been booked."
Apparently, actor Ravi Teja had then denied giving the samples of his hair, nails etc. Since the committee wanted the consent of the accused before they start sampling. they couldn't force Teja. However, his mother had denied the allegations and stated that her son isn't addicted to drug nor does he use them.
