Venkat Prabhu teams up with Thalapathy Vijay for the first time in The Greatest of All Time, aka The GOAT, which also marks Vijay's penultimate movie before he heads off to active politics. The Greatest of All Time has Thalapathy Vijay in a double role, and the movie has gained much chatter for using de-ageing technology to make Vijay into a 20-year-old character. Apart from this element, The Greatest of All Time is a pretty standard-fare action entertainer, with a few Venkat Prabhu comic elements, while being a fan-boy tribute to Vijay and also Chennai Super Kings. ‘The Greatest of All Time’ Movie Review: Thalapathy Vijay Experiments With ‘Shades’ in Venkat Prabhu’s Wildly Faltering Fan-Tribute.
When it comes to Venkat Prabhu movies, there are always opportunities for star cameos. Remember STR reprising his Manmadhan role at the end of Goa? In The Greatest of All Time, there are two star cameos, that of Vijay's favourite heroine, Trisha Krishnan and Sivakarthikeyan.
Curious to know what they are doing in GOAT? Warning - MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
Trisha Krishnan
The actress has an item song appearance in the "Matta" song where she energetically matches steps with the younger Vijay. The lyrical video of the song that came out a couple of days before the movie release had avoided her cameo, but the FDFS viewers flooded social media with images of Trisha from the song. Needless to say, the actress was looking absolutely captivating in her brief appearance. Trisha had earlier played the female lead in Venkat Prabhu's Mankatha, and she was also paired opposite Vijay in Leo. Sivakarthikeyan
The climax of GOAT is set in Chepauk stadium, where there is a conspiracy to blow the stadium during an IPL final match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Sivakarthikeyan makes an unexpected appearance in the scene as himself, wearing a CSK shirt, who thinks Gandhi, Vijay's character who is trying to thwart the bomb attack, is his fan. He is initially disappointed when Gandhi doesn't mollify him but rather tasks him with looking after a villain who is chained to a stall in the washroom. The actor, however, takes his new task in his stride and assures Gandhi that he will keep an eye on the hostage. While we are glad to see Sivakarthikeyan here, the cameo scene could have had more chutzpah. However, we hope that this cameo could bring Sivakarthikeyan and Venkat Prabhu together for a movie in future. We are sure the director would make fine use of the actor's fantastic comic timing.
