The BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is facing a No Confidence Motion from a united Opposition in the Parliament today. The Monsoon session of the Parliament this year is going to be strategic and historic, since it is after a long time that a ruling government is facing such a situation, and definitely a first for the one led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With so much happening within the walls of the Parliament, we are quite surprised that even pop culture and movie references are also being included in speeches.

Like the one delivered by Telugu Desam Party (TDP)'s Jaydev Galla. The serving MP from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, began his speech by referencing one of the biggest hits in Telugu Cinema this year, Bharat Ane Nenu. Mentioning the theme of the Mahesh Babu-starrer, Galla refers to 'a promise is a promise'. He went to attack both the Congress and the BJP for not fulfilling their 'promises' to the state.

After referring to Bharat Ane Nenu in his speech, the first-time MP said, "Andhra Pradesh is bearing the burdens of a new state. Centre is depriving funds. Instead of helping us, the Modi regime is creating more uncertainties and challenges for us. Telangana is not the new state, Andhra is. The saga of Andhra Pradesh during this Modi-Shah regime is a saga of empty promises." His speech was met with both applause and protests in the session.

Talking more about his reference point, Bharat Ane Nenu had Mahesh Babu play a foreign-educated man who becomes a reluctant Chief Minister to the state, after his father, the former CM, passes away. The movie was directed by Koratala Siva and also starred R Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj and Kiara Advani. Releasing on April 20, Bharat Ane Nenu received positive acclaim and saw good box office numbers.
