Speaking more about the film, Madhura Raja will be the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Pokkiri Raja (remade in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar as Boss). Vyshakh, who had helmed the first film, will also be handling the sequel, with Mammootty reprising the character of Raja, the don from Madurai who has a tendency to speak in broken English. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was the parallel lead in Pokkiri Raja, may have a cameo in the sequel.
