Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha Akkineni's Seema Raja released today. The theatres are packed with fans who want to catch the first day show of the masala film. Now Seema Raja is quite an entertaining film that has a mix of drama, romance, comedy and even history. But it also has a Padmaavat connection. Not none of the actors from the Bollywood film have made any appearances in the film. I told you in my review of Seema Raja how the film also has a bit where they show Kadambavel Raja and his story. I also told you how irrelevant that bit is to the movie but we'll rant about it later. Seema Raja's grandfather tells him about Kadambavel Raja who is their ancestor and how he died to protect their land.
He takes us to the time a small troop of Alauddin Khilji's men, including Malik Kafur, decide to camp near Singampatti (Guess which village this is! Winner gets some common sense). As soon as Kadambavel finds out about it, he kills all of them and lets a horse return so Khilji knows that his men have died. Khilji was apparently near Singampatti because that's the path he chose to reach Delhi. For obvious reasons, there is a war sequence after this where the Raja dies.
All you Bollywood movie lovers would have guessed the Padmaavat connection already. We saw the wicked, cruel yet passionate side of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat and you will literally miss Ranveer Singh in this particular sequence. As far as Seema Raja is concerned, the film is quite entertaining if you decide to let go of the loopholes and shoddy writing. Simran is the star of the film and will blow your mind with her performance. But had they shown the whole Khilji bit in one of the trailers, the film would have attracted a lot of Bollywood fans' attention, too, don't you think?
