Popular singer Chinmayi was left aghast on Saturday when she heard the news of her termination from Tamil dubbing union. She was one of the most prominent faces of the #MeToo campaign in India but her termination further proves why women shall never be allowed to speak up. The singer took to her Twitter account to share the big sad news with her fans and also to mock the union for terminating her membership for a very silly reason. #MeToo Movement: Chinmayi Says She Will File a Complaint Against Vairamuthu – Watch Video.

Her rant on Twitter was expected and even valid. She initially tweeted saying why her termination came so suddenly. “Sooo given to understand that I have been terminated from the dubbing union. Which means I can longer dub in Tamil films henceforth. The reason stated is that I haven’t paid ‘subscription fees’ for 2 years though this hasn’t stopped them from taking 10% off my dubbing income (sic),” she wrote.

The singer finds her termination unjust since no written communication was given to her to ask her to clear all the dues.

The singer is known for dubbing her voice in Tamil for popular South actresses like Samantha Akkineni and Trisha. She recently lent her voice in blockbuster 96 and received rave reviews. “Anyway as of now it looks like ‘96 will be my last in Tamil. It is a good film to end my Tamil dubbing scene with if the termination were to continue. Bye Bye! (sic),” she further said. Chennai Express Singer Chinmayi Sripada Groped At An Event; Shares Details Of The Horrific Incident On Social Media.

The irony is that the senior actor Radha Ravi is the president of the Tamil dubbing union, and he is in fact accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in the ongoing #MeToo movement. “She (Chinmayi) is a good kid but she is doing all this at the behest of somebody,” the 66-year-old actor had said earlier.

Chinmayi expected such a severe blow will eventually hit her! She knew the consequences of speaking up and standing for the right would be too worse and she was right.

Chinmayi was earlier questioned about her hesitance to speak earlier and why she kept quiet for 13 long years. Well, the reason lies right in front of us.

The talented singer had earlier accused poet Vairamuthu of sexual misconduct. She narrated the entire episode on her Facebook page by writing "Year 2005/2006 maybe... Veezhamattom, an album for Sri Lankan Tamizhs that I had sung in, as had Manikka Vinayagam sir... We went to Switzerland... We sang... We performed... Everyone left. Only my mother and I were asked to stay back. The organizer (I don't remember his name) asked me to visit Vairamuthu sir in a hotel in Lucerne. I asked why. He told me to cooperate. I refused. We demanded to be sent back to India. He said 'You won't have a career!' My mother and I both put our foot down... demanded an earlier flight to India and came back." Of course, she faced severe backlash for showing guts and an ability to speak up.
