Noted cinematographer Rajiv Menon has only directed two movies in the gap of 20 years, and if people still remember Minsara Kanavu (Sapnay in Hindi) and Kandukondain Kandukondain till date, it is for the immemorable music by AR Rahman. While the Oscar-winning composer's score for these two films was an enhancement to the narrative, his music is the real soul for Menon's next, Sarvam Thaalamayam. For the movie is all about the celebration of notes and beats, told through its young protagonist, played by GV Prakash Kumar. This is an interesting casting coup, since the rising actor in Tamil cinema had first made an impression as a composer. We now have a new trailer in the film that gives us a look at how the story would turn out to be. Prakash's protagonist is a music-obsessed lad whose knack of finding a rhythm in everything drives him to hone his skills in a better way. And like always, the path is not exactly easy for him, right from his family's opposition to troubles in finding the right mentor. And of course, AR Rahman's score rules big time in the trailer, as the composer experiments with several genres of music in the film. I particularly loved the classical interlude.
