Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar is touted as a big release down south. However, the movie is now in trouble after writer Varun Rajendran filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court seeking to restrain the release of the movie. He claims the makers of Vijay's Sarkar didn't credit him for the movie's story and screenplay. Justice M. Sundar granted permission to M. Purushothaman, counsel for the plaintiff to get the case listed on the same day. However, later, he was informed that the movie’s director A.R. Murugadoss, as well as the producer Sun Pictures, had already filed caveat petitions. It's basically a precautionary measure which is undertaken by people when they are having a very strong apprehension that some case is going to be filed in the Court regarding their interest in any manner. Sarkar Teaser: Thalapathy Vijay is His Dashing Self As He Dances and Bashes His Way Through This Political Thriller - Watch Video.

The judge then ordered the counsel to serve copies of the plaint on the caveators and also inform them about the hearing scheduled for October 30. The plaintiff claims that he had penned a story in 2007 about a law student feeling dejected on not being able to cast his vote due to bogus voting. He then decides to create an awareness among voters of the country and explain the importance of every vote in the democracy. Sarkar: These Stills From The Sets of Vijay's Film With AR Murugadoss Will Leave You Intrigued.

The story was registered by the writer with the South Indian Film Writers Association (SIFWA) in 2007 itself. He registered an alternative climax for the same story, again in 2011. And now he claims that AR Murugadoss has simply changed the protagonist from a law student to an America returned businessman in Sarkar. Acclaimed film personality K. Bhagyaraj, who was the president of SIFWA, had confirmed the writer's claims after going through both scripts. He now wants to stall the film's release and is also demanding a hefty remuneration of Rs 30 Lakhs from the movie makers.
