The expectations from Saaho are burgeoning by the day, and if you get to watch the teaser of the film, then they get to skyrocket to some other level. After delivering a mammoth hit with Baahubali 2, Prabhas is all set to return to the silver screen after a gap of two years with this biggie. Set to release during Independence Day weekend, Saaho will be releasing in multiple languages l, including Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The movie also marks the South debut of Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead. Though she is not the only Bollywood actor in the movie. Saaho: Shraddha Kapoor Looks Badass Holding a Gun on the New Poster, Teaser All Set to Release on THIS Date.
Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho has an ensemble supporting cast, including popular Bollywood actors like Jackie Shroff, Chunkey Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mandira Bedi and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The makers have been teasing us with little glimpses of the film, either as small promos or BTS videos.
Saaho's first proper teaser will be out on June 13, but LatestLY has got a special sneak-peek of the promo already. And we were mind-blown by the kind of scale that the film wants to present (with an estimated budget of Rs 250 crore, no less!). Here are 7 things you should watch out for in the teaser of the film! (Please note that we saw the Hindi teaser of the film).
Prabhas is Back!
You can't blame the makers for giving two aspects of Saaho more prominence - the huge scale and Prabhas, the leading man. And boy, the man has so much charisma! Unlike the Baahubali series, where he was more animated, the Saaho teaser presents him as a stone-faced one-man army, with more focus on making him look stylish, even when he is flexing his biceps. There is also a gratuitous shirtless scene too for his female fans!
Shraddha in Baaghi mode
In Baaghi, we have seen how Shraddha can be a convincing badass when it comes to action scenes. Saaho may give more focus to her male co-star, but Shraddha does get to show off her action chops in the teaser. Especially in the scene where she and Prabhas form a tag-team to shoot down unseen enemies.
The Action-Setpieces Look Awesome
The teaser, as expected, gives more prominence to action scenes and from what we saw, they are made to be of grand scale. From Prabhas zooming across fast lanes with heavy vehicles following him, to him taking down some heavy foreign fighters in some desert sort of region, the scenes make Saaho feel like an actioner on par with Hollywood films.
The Larger-Than-Life Feel
We first get awed by the grand scale that director Sujeet wants to present of Saaho through a nightscape view of a city draped in neon lights, as Prabhas' character stands on top of a tower. From thereon, the teaser gives us enough glimpses of the huge scale that the film is made on, from destructive road chases to terrifying desert storms. Need to add here that some of the CGI don't feel very polished. So I do hope that the makers get them rectified before the movie comes out.
The Plot is Still A Mystery
Interestingly, the teaser starts off on a romantic note with Shraddha Kapoor's character embracing Prabhas, though the latter, strangely, doesn't show off many emotions here. Another scene has both of them inside a body of water, getting separated from each other. From thereon, the action sequences begin, though we are not given any clue as to what's the plot about. It's like the makers have adopted the 'Show More, Tell Less' approach when it comes to Saaho promotions. Maybe the trailer will offer a better insight into the premise.
The Supporting Cast
Like I said before, Saaho has an exciting supporting cast like Jackie Shroff, Chunkey Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mandira Bedi, Murali Sharma, and Neil Nitin Mukesh, with the teaser giving most of them at least one moment. You can also glimpse Malayalam star Lal in the promo. Now, I am not sure that they all will be the antagonists in the movie, and when asked, even director Sujeeth was tight-lipped about this. That said, if there was one actor who stood out among the cast, it would be Chunkey Pandey, with his new haircut and a very aggressive demeanour.
The Killer Scene Towards The End
The final scene of the Saaho teaser is definitely going to be fodder for a lot of memes. After Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhas's characters hide from heavy gunfire, she asks him who the people are shooting at them are. He dispassionately replies, "Friends". She tries to leave from there, but has to duck again from the firing, so she asks him again why they are being so violent. He merely replies, "Die-Hard friends!". This line could be a dig at the aggressive fans of South stars, including Prabhas, who even get to death threats if their idols are insulted in any way.
